Tour of the Cotswolds Overview
Are you looking to get out of London for the day? You will love going on a private driving tour of The Cotswolds, an idyllic area of little villages with beautiful honey-colored limestone facades, just an hour southwest of the city.
Getting to The Cotswolds
I met my private driver/photographer, Cuma, at the Oxford train station. Due to a rail strike, I took an Uber from London, but it’s an easy train ride from the city. I like using the Trainline app to find train times and I used it to book a return ride to London when the experience was over.
The Experience: A Private Driving Tour of the Cotswolds and Photoshoot
The Cotswolds is an area of rolling hills in southwest and south-central England made up of small villages. Each village is unique, but one thing they have in common is the style of stone on the homes and buildings.
After meeting Cuma, I hopped into his comfortable and clean Mercedes, then was taken from one town to the next. He provided information about the area and each spot along the way. I believe that it might not always be the same tour, as it seems as though he was figuring out which specific towns to stop in as the day went on (don’t quote me on that). Depending on how time was utilized you may see more or less, and he may take you to one village over another depending on your preferences.
Cuma is a professional photographer with hundreds of thousands of followers on Instagram and a portfolio of images that are just jaw-dropping. Because I’ve started to create content and share my experiences on a website, this talent of his was the icing on the cake of what was already going to be a one-of-a-kind experience.
At the beginning of the day, I was a little bit awkward when it came to the photos and videos, and he definitely didn’t push me to take any, but of course I wanted to take advantage of his skillset. As the day went on, and I became less self-conscious and understood more of the types of work he did, I ended up getting some of the most beautiful shots and videos that I’ve ever seen with me as a subject.
We went to several locations including Burford, Bourton-on-the-Water, Lower Slaughter, Stow-on-the-Wold, Daylesfard Farm Shop, Broadway Tower, Snowshill, Broadway, and Chipping Campden.
We spent a decent amount of time in each spot, and sometimes had 20 minutes of driving (or less) from one place to the next. The area is so stunning that the scenery on the drive is one of the other great parts of the experience. See the video at the top of the page to get a better understanding of what each area has to offer.
Takeaway
Cuma’s private tour of The Cotswolds is unlike anything you’re going to find in England. Not only do you get a specialized tour with someone who knows the area, but you also have your very own photographer, who will have you leaving with stunning shots to remember the day. Don’t hesitate for a second to book this.
