My First Time at the Class

My Second Time at the Class

Pasta Class Overview

Imagine learning how to make pasta while simultaneously looking out over the Tuscan countryside. It doesn’t get more authentic than a pasta cooking class in Florence with Luca and Lorenzo at their stunning home just outside the city.

Getting to Luca & Lorenzo's House

Luca and Lorenzo’s home is located just outside of Florence in Lastra a Signa. Lorenzo met our group at the train station in Florence, provided us all with train tickets, and rode with us to the station in their town. Luca greeted us there with a second car and they drove all of us to their house.

The Experience

The experience truly begins on the train on the way to Luca and Lorenzo’s house. Here, we got an overview of how they created their company, Lovexfood, and pursued their passion of cooking after years in the fashion industry.

When we arrived at their property, we were greeted with a coop full of chickens, ducks wandering around the yard, and cats and dogs coming and going. We passed by their rental property, The Nest, as we walked from the driveway to the main house (and now I want to live there).

They have a beautiful outdoor dining area that would be used for some of the prep work and for the final meal. Inside, the decor is a modern, but somehow classic Tuscan style. Every room was impeccably decorated.

We began with a glass of wine and started working on a different take on tiramisu (we made it with biscotti instead of ladyfingers). Next, we learned how to make various shapes of pasta, both filled, unfilled, and long. By this point in my trip, I’d taken a few pasta making classes, so I was feeling much more confident. Lorenzo was so skilled at not only creating various types of pasta, but also explaining the process to us.

After we finished with the pasta, Luca and Lorenzo worked on creating two sauces: butter and sage as well as pomodoro with olives. Each dish was artistically plated and we enjoyed the fruits of our labor at a long table with wine and bread, just like an Italian family. We finished the meal with the most delicious tiramisu I’ve ever tasted. The combination of the biscotti along with a topping of sea salt set it apart from others I’ve tried.

When our stomachs were full, they took us back to the train station, gave us our tickets, and we headed back into the city. Our group had so much fun together throughout the day that we all went together to experience one of the wine windows near Santa Maria Novella. It was such a fantastic day.

Takeaway

If you want to learn how to make pasta in the Italian countryside, you should definitely book this experience with Luca and Lorenzo. They’ll welcome you into their home with open arms and have you leave feeling like family.
