Florence Apartment Overview
This one bedroom apartment in Florence is located just blocks away from Piazza Santa Croce and close to all of the main sights of the city. The building is very safe, has two elevators, and is in walking distance to a large grocery store.
Arrival
It’s very easy to grab a taxi from the train station in order to get to the apartment. My host was easy to communicate with and gave clear directions. Having an elevator made access to the unit much easier.
The Apartment
The apartment has everything you need for a short or long-term stay in Florence. There is a kitchen and living area complete with a small balcony, along with a full bathroom near the entrance to the unit. Having a washing machine was an added bonus.
As you enter the bedroom, you’ll be amazed at how large it is with extremely high ceilings. I had plenty of closet space along with a desk for working, and there's an ensuite bathroom.
The Area: Santa Croce
The apartment is located approximately 2 blocks from Piazza Santa Croce and 5 blocks from the Arno. You can get to Palazzo Vecchio or the Florence Cathedral in less than 10 minutes.
Also close to the apartment is a grocery store - Conad. My favorite, though, is being just steps away from Pino’s Sandwiches.
I chose this location originally because it was less than a 10 minute walk to the Italian school I was attending, Scuola Leondaro da Vinci. I quickly learned that this apartment building was in such a prime spot and ended up booking my apartment there the following year.
Takeaway
If you’re looking for a comfortable one bedroom apartment in Florence with a fantastic location, this is it!
Looking for something bigger? Check out this two bedroom apartment that I stayed at in the very same building.
Terry's Tips
- 1If you want to study Italian while you’re staying in Florence, sign up for classes at Scuola Leonardo da Vinci. They have additional locations in Italy and you can sign up to take a week in different cities.
- 2If you’re looking to get exercise, take the long way up to Piazzale Michelangelo on Viale Michelangelo. It’s about 4 miles round trip from the apartment and it’s a beautiful route.
- 3Enjoy a morning cappuccino or coffee diagonally across the street at Caffé Michelangiolo. The staff there is SO sweet. Ordering in Italian will also score you some points!
- 4Grab lunch at Pino’s Sandwiches. Pino is dynamic and welcoming, even though his shop is ALWAYS busy. That just shows you how good it is!
- 5Walk to the Arno or Piazzale Michelangelo in the evening to watch the sunset.
What to Do in Florence
I spent a lot of time finding incredible experiences in Florence and I know you'll love them too. The first experience that I ever did in Florence was a rooftop tour with drinks, aperitivo, and gelato. If you want to see Florence from the Rooftops, you can book your ticket here.
