Montepulciano Apartment Overview
If you find yourself in the middle of Tuscany, you definitely need to make your way to Montepulciano. This medieval hilltop town is incredibly quaint, featuring a clock tower, duomo, and panoramic views of the Val D’Orcia region.
When I was searching for an apartment, one amenity that I was looking for was an outdoor space. The apartment that I ended up booking in Montepulciano had one of the most beautiful outdoor patios overlooking the vineyards that covered the surrounding hillside and I was instantly sold.
Arrival
Our arrival in Montepulciano was essentially seamless. To our surprise, our host, Dorita, was from New York, so communication was incredibly easy. She was absolutely lovely and we learned that she had moved from New York to Italy with her husband and was eventually joined by her husband and his family. She helps manage properties in Montepulciano and absolutely loves it there.
We were able to park my our rental car easily in one of the parking areas down the hill, and enjoyed getting a good workout in as we made our way to the apartment. I again learned that I’m not a light packer and need to do a better job in the future. The apartment we rented was located right in the center of town.
The Apartment
The unit consisted of a downstairs with a bedroom, bathroom, laundry, and a kitchen/living room area that had any essentials you could need. Having laundry was especially helpful so that we could have fresh clothes by the end of our stay before heading to our next destination. Upstairs was my little lair. There isn’t a door that blocks it off from the downstairs area; it’s a bit like a loft, but with more privacy. The room was very large and open with a bathroom and a door leading out onto the terrace. This was my absolutely favorite part of the apartment.
We spent our first evening outside enjoying a bottle of wine as well as aperitivi before heading out to dinner. The terrace was spectacular. The views are indescribable and I could have sat out there all night long gazing at the stars.
Takeaway
If you’re looking for a quaint place to stay in Montepulciano that sleeps four and want sprawling views of Val D’Orcia, this is the spot for you. You’ll absolutely love it. We sure did!
