Amalfi Apartment Overview

If you’re visiting the Amalfi Coast, specifically Amalfi, you won’t find too many apartments with a location this close to the marina and a spectacular view of the water.  This room is part of a group of rooms in a family apartment-turned Airbnb.  The group of three rooms is run by Federica, who was welcoming from the second I booked the room.   Casa Zarino would make a great place to call home during your stay in Amalfi.

Arrival

Communication with Federica was excellent; she gave clear directions to the unit and was available to assist with any questions.  She checked in on me throughout my stay and told me all about the history of the apartment, which used to belong to her grandfather.  Whether you're coming from the ferry, car, or bus, the location of the apartment is convenient.

Traveling to Amalfi from Rome or to Rome from Amalfi?

You can take the fast ferry between Amalfi and Salerno (Concordia) and then use the Trainline app to book a train from Salerno to Rome.  They have direct fast trains as fast as 1 hour and 39 minutes up to 2 hours and 12 minutes.  At the time of writing this, there were 10 options for this from Rome to Salerno on a weekday.  You can also book a slower train that takes anywhere from 3-4 hours because it makes more stops.  If you're coming from Naples, you can find trains to and from there as well.

*The Trainline app is my favorite app for booking trains because you can see the options of all train companies and book your tickets right on the app and present them digitally)

Understanding the Ferry Schedule

*On the ferry schedule, you can find the English translation just to the right of the Italian phrases*

To get from Salerno to Amalfi:  Look at the light blue schedule on the top left.  The first row shows all of the fast ferries to Amalfi, followed by the duration (35 minutes) and the cost (10 euro).  Each of the times that has a blue asterisk will NOT be a direct 35 minute ride because it will stop in Vietri, Cetara, Maiori and Minori.

To get from Amalfi to Salerno:  Look at the dark blue schedule on the bottom left.  The first row shows all of the fast ferries to Salerno, followed by the duration (35 minutes) and the cost (10 euro).  Each of the times that has a blue asterisk will NOT be a direct 35 minute ride because it will stop in Minori, Maiori, Cetara, and Vietri.

The Apartment

The apartment I stayed in is a private room in a hallway of approximately 3-4 rooms. It has its own bathroom and access to a shared patio with the most spectacular view of the marina and coastline. The apartment has massively high ceilings, a comfortable bed, updated bathroom with a large shower, and plenty of storage for clothing.

This is the perfect place to stay for a solo traveler, couple, pair of friends, or a small group if you're able to book more than one of the rooms in the apartment.

Takeaway

If you want a cozy room with one of the best views of Amalfi, I highly recommend staying at Federica’s apartment.  She’ll welcome you with open arms and you’ll be dreaming of coming back! (I sure am!)

What to Do in Amalfi

So you're heading to Amalfi, you (hopefully) found a place to stay, and now you're looking for something fun to do!  I HIGHLY recommend going on a private tour of the Amalfi Coast in a vintage Fiat500 with Antonio.  This was one of the best tours I've ever been on and truly the most spectacular way to see the Amalfi Coast.
